Dividend increase Toronto Dominion Bank

Dividend increase Toronto Dominion Bank

At the 1st of March the board of Toronto Dominion Bank (TD) decided to increase the quarterly dividend from CAD 0,60 to CAD 0,67 per quarter. This means an increase of CAD 0,07 per share per year which translates to a 11,7% increase. The dividend is paid on April the 30th 2018 to shareholders of record on April the 10th 2018. This is the 7th consecutive year in which RY increases the quarterly dividend. Much more impressive, the company never ever reduced its dividend and it’s paying a dividend for a very long time!

The Pursuit

Since I haveĀ 13 shares this increase means that my yearly dividend for Toronto Dominion Bank is now CAD 34,84. Up from CAD 31,20 or a CAD 3,64 increase in yearly dividends. After taxes I will receive CAD 29,61 per year from the company.

This increase meansĀ TD currently yields 3,58% and my yield on cost rises to 4,82%.

Toronto Dominion Bank is one of the safest and most conservative banks in the world. At the same time it is growing rapidly and creating a lot of share holder value. My Yield on Cost went up from 3,95% to 4,82% with just 2 increases and I have roughly 30% in unrealized capital gains. I just really like the Canadian Banks and hope they keep performing in the future like they did in the last 100 years.

  1. Awesome! Would it not be sufficient just to hold Canadian bands? They probably are a major chunk of TSX. Good dividend, yield, growth and look stable. What am I missing here?

    1. In my opinion the banks are the most interesting companies in Canada. I really like them. They are all performing great. You are right, I prefer the banks above a TSX ETF.

In addition some utilities seem to be nice and I like the Canadian railroads.
