Dividend increase Abbott
At the 15th of December the board of Abbott decided to increase the quarterly dividend from $ 0,265 to $ 0,28 per quarter. This means an increase of $ 0,015 per share per year which translates to a 5,66% increase. The dividend is paid on February the 15th 2018 to shareholders of record on January the 12th 2018. This is the 46th consecutive annual increase.
Since I have 23 shares this increase means that my yearly dividend for Abbott is now $ 25,76, up from $ 24,38 or a $ 1,38 increase in yearly dividends. After taxes I will receive $ 21,90 per year from the company.
This increase means Abbott currently yields 2,02% and my yield on cost rises to 3,01%.
Like I stated in last years dividend increase report from Abbott I was not happy with the increase from last year. I expected that it had to do with the companies they bought and the problems those purchases gave the company. I also expected bigger increases in the future. Well, I’m not disappointed now. Although I feel Abbott can even do better than this I also think this is a great increase. It is 3 times as much as the increase from last year and almost 6% is not bad at all! I believe the company is on the right track. Shares have grown a lot in value and now the dividend is following as well. I’m a happy Abbott shareholder. If only the price was right to buy more. I will keep watching for a great opportunity to present itself in the future.
