Dividend income of April

It’s time for that time of the month again. This time for the dividend income of April. Another month, more chances. I love these times just as much as most dividend growth investors do. How much income did we generate during the month? Is it higher or lower compared to the same month last year? You can read upon all of it in this report!

Dividend income of April

The first 3 months of the year where truly great months with great dividend growth percentages. I can tell you one thing. That did not happen in April. Although that was expected it’s still a tiny bit disappointing. Well, it just reminds me of the need to search for another good buy I guess!

During the month of April I got paid by 2 companies, Wal-Mart and Toronto Dominion Bank. Together those companies payed me € 12,12 in net dividends after taxes and using the current conversion rates.

Company name Ticker Dividend
Wal-Mart Stores Inc WMT € 7,67
Toronto-Dominion Bank LTD TD € 4,45
Total € 12,12

My dividend income for April 2016 was € 47,95 which results in a 74,7% decrease compared to last year. This looks really bad, but in reality it is not. Muenchener Rueckver AG is a German insurer on which I wrote a dividend increase post yesterday paid on the 30th of April last year. This year they pay on the 1st of May and since they only pay once a year this has a huge impact on my results for the month. Negative for April, positive for May. If I include the dividend paid by Muenchener Rueckver, then the total would be € 50,11 which results in a growth of 4,5%. Not so big as the increases from the last months, but since I didn’t buy any companies in the last year that pay in April it’s not bad at all. Dividend growth at work!

Dividend increases

Great news on this front! Both companies that paid me a dividend this month also paid me for the first time after they increased the dividend! I talked about both the Wal-Mart increase as well as the Toronto Dominion increase on this blog. Follow the links to find all the details!

Contributions and purchases

I added € 400,00 to my fund at the end of April. This way I am building my cash position which is now around € 3.140,00. I am going to analyze some European stocks. The post about this will be up on the site somewhere in the coming week. Keep reading for the update!

I purchased nothing this month.

Conclusion

April was a strange month. Mainly because the payment of MUV2 just changed from April to May this year. It really gives a strange overviews which is a pity, but sometimes it happens. The most important thing is that they pay a dividend and that it keeps growing!

I didn’t add any April paying companies during the last year, so the increase in payments was just the dividend increase. Still not bad at all, so I’m quite happy although I would love to see increases like I received the last month! I just keep working on my portfolio and it will keep growing over time. Just need to have patience!

How was your month? Are you happy with your dividend income? Have you made any new buys or did you receive dividend increases?

  1. Seems like a lot of companies have been changing their payment months lately. Many others, including myself, saw HCP do that a few months ago. May look like a decrease on paper but the increase it makes next month will even itself out as you mentioned. Nice seeing both companies increase their dividend for you as well.
