Dividend Income of March

The first quarter of 2017 is history already and with that it’s time for my Dividend Income report of March! The first 2 months of this year where great with great growth percentages of dividend income. However, I still didn’t buy any stocks this year so we have to see how long I can keep it up. Some buys would be nice, but with the strong dollar and the high valuations I’m reluctant to invest in the US and I have a hard time finding stocks outside the US that I like. Well, with patience things will change I assume!

let’s have a look at the results this month!

Dividend income of March

The months of January and February where superb months in terms of dividend growth for me. It’s hard to beat the growth percentages I realized in those 2 months. Still, I’m trying to complete the same result for the 3rd month of 2017. As you can see in the table below I’ve got 3 companies paying me dividends this month. Emerson is my first ever stock and CCP is a stock with a great dividend yield. Together those companies payed me € 33,99 in net dividends after taxes and using the current conversion rates.

Company name Ticker Dividend
Unilever UN €   6,26
Emerson EMR €   9,23
Care Capital properties CCP € 18,50
Total € 33,99

My dividend income for March 2016 was € 8,77 which results in a 287,6% increase compared to last year! The biggest increase this year so far although that’s mainly because the dividend was low in 2016. Still, I like it! Almost 3 times my 2016 dividends and I did it for the complete first quarter of 2017! If I want to continue this then I really need more stocks, but that’s another challenge…

Dividend increases

This month I didn’t receive any dividend increases for the 3 companies that paid me a dividend.

Contributions and purchases

I added € 500,00 to my fund at the end of March. This way I am building my cash position which is now around € 2.694,00. With the current market valuations and the strong dollar I don’t have a purpose for this money at this moment, so I am building my cash position for better times in the market.

I purchased nothing this month.

March was just as great as January and February of this year. Great growth compared to last year! CCP paid me a great dividend and so did the always reliable companies of Unilever and Emerson. Seeing the dividend grow year over year gives me a great feeling and I hope I can keep this up. However, with the current market I’m not investing much money, so if it stays like this the growth could fall behind for a while. We will see what the future will bring for me!

How was your month? Are you happy with your dividend income? Have you made any new buys or did you receive dividend increases?

  1. All dividends coming in, keep on growing your snowball in the long run.
Don’t be afraid to invest in the market. You can not time the market.

We did several new buys at the end of March in 2 of our portfolios. Our results will be posted in April for each of our portfolios.

    Keep on grinding !!

    1. I’m not timing hte market, but I do watch valuations. I like to buy below average valuations of the companies I invest in. However, that is also hard at this moment in time.

We will see what the future brings. 🙂

  2. Way to go! Great month and YoY% growth. Those numbers will keep you coming back for more. I like EMR a lot. Would love to be able to add it to my portfolio as well but everything is too expensive right now. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Emerson is a great company. It had a lot of headwinds, but in my opinion most where external and will change for the best sooner or later.

You are probably right. It’s valued very high at the moment. But you never know what the future brings. 🙂

      Thanks for the comment!

  3. Great results for the month of March with an insane year over year growth. Nice to see I own all three names that have paid you last month. I recently added to my CCP and will continue to hold this VTR spin off for the foreseeable future. I’m still waiting for the HCP spin off, QCP to start paying a dividend too. Keep up the good work and contributions.

    1. Thank you! I really like CCP. I just bought it a bit to fast. So it’s at -10% at the moment which is a pitty. But on the long run, it doesn’t matter I guess.

I do hope they will start with dividend increases in the near future. If they start with that, then it could turn out to be the best investment I have.

I don’t know about HCP and QCP. Do you keep the spinn of if it doesn’t pay dividends any time soon?

      1. Good question. For now, I keep all spin offs. It has been my experience that eventually they all pay a dividend sooner or later. It’s not a rule, but in general it happens that way.

  4. Love seeing those kinds of dividend growth rates. It is exciting and it has to motivate you to keep on investing and seeing your income grow exponentially. Keep up the great wok.
